Five offline RPGs worth your storage this year

Finding a good RPG that doesn't demand a constant connection is harder than it should be. Too many of them lock progress behind servers. These five don't, and they're the ones I keep coming back to.

Ashen Vale Chronicles leads the pack for its writing and flexible builds. If you like agonizing over which skill to unlock next, it'll eat your evenings. It saves everything locally, so you never lose progress on a dropped connection.

For something faster, look at games with shorter combat loops and generous save systems. The trick with mobile RPGs is finding one that respects your interruptions, since you'll rarely play for an hour uninterrupted.

My advice: check the reviews for the phrase 'requires online.' If it's there, expect to lose progress at the worst possible moment. Everything on our list has passed airplane mode testing, which is the only certification I trust anymore.
